Weigh in Day 3: slow and steady

I usually try to have my treat/cheat meal on Friday or Saturday, AFTER weigh in day, but this week it happened to take place Thursday evening. Thursday also being the only day that I’ve felt hungry none stop in the past 3 weeks.  I ate a bit more than planned, but all healthy choices-except for my chicken brie and fig sandwich (minus skin) and yam fries (healthier right??? lol) it was so worth it for my cheat meal.   I still felt good about how I ate for the day.

but I was a little nervous that the meal, plus a few extra calories from extra snacks would completely ruin my weigh in.  Hopped on the scale this morning.

Last week: 159.8

This week: 157.4

That means I’m down 1.4 pounds this week, slow and steady the weight is disappearing, which is super especially after eating a cheat meal the 12 hours before.   This also means Steph has to put $50 extra on her credit card-  I have yet to hear her confirmation of completing this, but I’ll make sure that gets done!  Next week I will weigh in and do measurements. I didn’t post them, but I did take them at my starting weight.

I am feeling confident that I can keep this up until I’m back at my ideal weight.  I am hoping to get back to this weight by January 22 as that’s when I have a week off and head to the Bahamas for a friends wedding.  Thinking about wearing bathing suites for a week is motivation to get my butt moving almost every day.

I’m also looking forward to December to have more time to focus on fitness.  I picked up an extra 60 hours at my casual job this past month.  Often I work these extra shifts after my normal job which means I have a 14-16 hour day, or I’ll sometimes pick up an extra 12 hour shift on a Sunday- like I have coming up this Sunday.  This doesn’t leave a lot of time for workouts, so those days I really focus on my meals and sticking to what I’ve planned and packed to eat.   I think I have 1 extra shift in December so I will have more time to dedicate to my half marathon training and working out in general.

The plan for this week:

Friday: Workout with Laura (Laura being my roommate/trainer)

Saturday: Workout with Laura and short 3-4km run with Koda.

Sunday: I work 11-11, but have made plans with my old running buddy Jill to meet at 9am to attempt our old 6.whatever Km run. Then I’ll head to work.

Monday- I took a day off of work to book a bunch of doctors appointments, so once I’m done those for the day the plan is 8km run with Koda in the afternoon.

Tuesday- Work 15 hours, just get in the normal morning walk with Koda.

Wednesday- pack in a short run right after work before Volunteering at the Food Bank

Thursday- Haven’t decided yet, I have a basketball game, but I may be driving home a day early for the weekend.  I’m going see how I feel later in the week, might be a good day for another rest day.

Woah I’ve been gone for a while

Sorry ya’ll I just ran out of time to post there for a bit, super busy with life and work and then I went to Nova Scotia for a friend’s Wedding.  Time for a little update today and then I’ll share the fun of my half marathon from this past Saturday in my next post, cause I know everyone is just dying to hear about it, so I tell myself.

Ok so September has been a very weird month. I have not been motivated to do anything.  I’ve been feeling down in the dumps and just plain sad, often.  I know exercise helps me when I’m like this, but it’s so hard to convince myself to do it.  I did not train for the half marathon as much as I needed to, but I knew this time I also trained more so I wasn’t too worried.

I said I went to Nova Scotia for a friend’s wedding as well, which put a damper on training for a week, which was totally worth it, and I’ll show you why.

The “Ovens Caves” because a cave is like an oven?

We also went to the “Ovens Caves” where you walk for about 45 minutes and check out 4 different caves where the water comes crashing in, it was very cool.  One cave was even called “Thunder Cave”, can you believe it? yep, I can because I heard that cave and it sounded just like Thunder.  Those folks got it right when they named it.

Se the feet in the part of the cave where you actually go in and look at the waves crashing? that was Jill, Jen and Travis.  moments after I took this photo a MASSIVE wave came up over the rock they were standing on and splashed the hell out of Travis… it was awesome to hear them scream.

Oh does that sound morbid and weird? yeah a little but for real Ryan and I had a good laugh about them screaming.  Ok this keeps sounding weirder and weirder so, new topic.

So we were busy site seeing, helping set up for the wedding and obviously having to many cocktails for me to train for my half marathon… next time I wont book a holiday a week before a big race! unless it’s like for a wedding or to somewhere cool like mexico, hawaii, or well maybe anywhere but here 🙂

Classic Jump shot, this is when we were practicing for the wedding, while at a wedding. the grass was so wet you can see the mud on my heals. I got some decent hit still while jumping in heals and out of the mud.

I have never experienced humidity until going to Nova Scotia.  We do get humid days in Alberta, but NOTHING like the day of the wedding.  You can’t tell that my hair had been in tight ringlets just 2 hours before this picture.  I’m just glad that the rain stopped for our friend’s wedding so they could hold it outside as planned!

Obviously I knew Ryan would catch those.  He has caught the garter at least half the weddings we have gone to so I knew he’d be all in for the ginch.

We had a great time in Nova Scotia, if you’ve thought about going there, just do it. now I’m home, settled and ready to get back to working out and blogging, check back tomorrow for my half marathon post!

 

 

 

 

weighed in

It’s weigh in day, ok it was supposed to be monday but I when I got on the computer my internet was down and I couldn’t get it going until just now! finally! so I did weigh in monday I’ve just been unable to post this.

I’m weighing in today at: 151 lbs

So I’m down -1 lb

Which means that If I keep this up with a -1lb weight loss a week I’ll reach my goal before I need to. so now’s the time to keep the motivation running strong and kill it.

I talked about my week and how I didn’t exactly follow through with everything I was supposed to last week but I still managed a long run (most important in my half marathon training) and eating well, besides when I was camping and doing this

beer pong, beers-be, flip cup, drinking while siting around the fire, shot gunning, beer bonging etc.

Every form of drinking possible… yep it was a party weekend.  Not the greatest to have during training and weight loss season, but it was fun and I have no regrets – plus i still lost a pound!

 

This weeks goal

Run my 16km run and at least 1 shorter run.- quick update, I went out yesterday with Ryan (hubby to be) to run a 5km but it turned into a 9km walk as Ryan had what he calls a “Boo-boo tummy”.  We started running but he felt sick since he had 10 hotdogs for dinner at 4am. Side story to that is: Ry works night shift, eats dinner when we’re all asleep, didn’t eat 10 hotdogs with buns, just the dogs and yes that is still disgusting lol.

This is the last day of my holidays and I’m back to work tomorrow night, so my goal for the end of this week and for next week is to get back into my getting up between 8-9am and hitting the gym or heading out for a run first thing.   See how that goes..

I’m not running today, I actually have this odd foot cramp still from yesterdays walk, so I’m golfing this evening and since I haven’t cleaned my house while I was off for almost all of July I am going to do a mad clean today. Better wear my heart rate monitor for that cause I have 3 bathrooms to clean and a lot to vacuum!
